The second part of the scenic spot is ecological protection
area. Waters, trees and lawns, pavilions, flowing water under
the small bridge, singing birds and fragrant flowers make
environment here very beautiful and elegant. The “Height with
Drifting Tide” at the south gate access to the scenic spot
is made of stainless structures in the form of five flowers
on the top of which the great feat of human in reconstructing
the nature can be perceived. Going down along the road, you
can see the former residences of the resettlers where local
people have lived from generation to generation. Caves and
blockhouses are erected here as if telling the bygones. Coming
to old river channels, you can see at the left side the monument
of martyrs on which names of 7 expatriates and 137 Chinese
who died for Xiaolangdi Project are recorded. At the right
sight you can see the old channels of surging Yellow River
which have been now changed into a lake of 272mu. The bridge
of nine zigzags connects the Lake Center Island in the west,
the White Water Tea House with western characteristic in the
east and the Monument in the south. At the cultural zone,
the section model of Xiaolangdi Dam, display of huge wheels,
the large dumper of 65 tons, the full-round steel platform
carrier with the height of 14.5m make people recall the hard
fighting in the construction of Xiaolangdi Project.


At the project commemorative square, 7 sculptures of various
types are displaying miens of the Employer, Lot I, II, III
and IV Contractors, the designer and the Engineer. The long
corridor planted with flowers are the masterpiece of modern
gardens. The micro sight of the Yellow River visually and
vividly gives tourists a lifelike view of natural landscape
of the Yellow River headstream, Hukou Waterfall, the artificial
landscape of representative projects on the Yellow River like
Longyangxia Project, Qingtongxia Project, Liujiaxia Project,
Wanjiazhai Project and Xiaolangdi Project which fully reflects
the remarkable achievements of the Chinese people in harnessing
the Yellow River over 50 years.
