| Main structures include: earth rockfill dam, flood
gate, sediment gate, block power plant, Wangzhuang Diversion
Gate, irrigation gate behind dam, and sediment tunnel beneath
erection bay. The total dam axis is 3,122 m long, including
315 m concrete sections (for flood release, power generation
and water diversion). The release and power structures are concentrated
in the right-bank floodland, including 21 flood gates. Sediment
release structures, including the sediment tunnel on the left
side of the powerhouse, the sediment gate on the right, the
bottom holes between the units, and Wangzhuang Diversion Gate,
are all arranged on the right side of the flood gates. The irrigation
gate is on the downstream left side of the powerhouse. In the
floodlands on both banks and in the channel is a geomembrane
sand-gravel dam with an inclining core, with a maximum height
of 20.2 m, crest width of 8 m, crest elevation of 138.2 m, upstream
slope of 1:2.75, and downstream slope of 1:2.25. This sand-gravel
dam has a total length of 2609 m, including 1725.5 m on the
left and 883.5 m on the right. The powerhouse is designed to
have a maximum height of 51.5 m, with 4 x 35 MW movable propeller
turbine units, providing a total installed capacity of 140 MW
and a long-term average output of 583 GWH. A concrete cutoff
wall is provided for seepage control purposes. This is classified
as a large-sized (2) project at Grade II.
The reservoir is designed to have a total storage capacity
of 162 million m3, a normal pool level of 134 m, and a limit
level of 131 m during the flood season. The main quantities
of work include 7.3 million m3 earth/rock excavation, 98000
m2 concrete cutoff wall, 853000 m3 concrete, 2.8322 million
m3 earth/rock fill, 8720 t metal works, and 46000 t steel.
